Left Bank, Right Bank, What's the Difference?

Recently, I started to better appreciate French Bordeaux wines. Prior to this, I went from Pinot Noir to Cabernet Saugvignon and now leaning towards Melbec. Well, come to find out that Bordeaux wines are proprietary blends that use these grapes. So, in speaking with a wine expert at Total Wines, I asked, 'What is the different between Left Bank 🍷 and Right Bank 🍷? Is it like the Twix controversy?" Besides the fact that Left Bank 🍷 can be quite more expensive than Right Bank 🍷 (2 to 5 times), the differ is the base 🍇 used in their blends.

Left Bank 🍷 use Cabernet Saugvignon as their base while Right Bank 🍷 use Merlot. I splurged and bought a Left Bank 🍷 and, wow, it was amazing. I tend to favor Cabernet Saugvignon over Merlot so I was not surprised. I still must try a Right Bank 🍷to see if the price differential is justified. I'll report my finds in a later post.
