This year's summer cover crop is late but not forgotten. If lucky, we will get some sunflowers before the cold sets in. We have about 75 more days of warm to mild temperatures at the vineyard. As you can see, our previous winter cover crops are still growing strong. For this year's winter cover crop we will replace the tall triticale grass for tall fescue grass. This substitute will still give us biomass without the grass height (I think 🤔 we lost a worker in that triticale.). We also plan to plant white clover 🍀 this winter instead of Crimson clover (just to add diversity to the vineyard). Finally, a mix of pollinators 🪴 will attract many beneficial insects. We are scheduled to plant the winter cover crops in last October or early November.
